修多罗

修多罗
(修多羅, 修多罗)
Sutra; from (sa) siv, to sew, to thread, to string together, intp. as [lang id =1028]綖, i.e. [lang id =1028]線 thread, string; strung together as a garland of flowers. Sutras or addresses attributed to the Buddha, usually introduced by [lang id =1028]如是我聞 thus have I heard, (sa) Evam mayā śrutam It is intp. by [lang id =1028]經 a warp, i.e. the threads on which a piece is woven; it is the (sa) sūtra-piṭaka, or first portion of the Tripiṭaka; but is sometimes applied to the whole canon. It is also intp. [lang id =1028]契 or[lang id =1028]契經 scriptures. Also [lang id =1028]修單羅; [lang id =1028]修妬路; [lang id =1028]修多闌; [lang id =1028]修單蘭多; [lang id =1028]素呾纜 (or [lang id =1028]素怛纜); [lang id =1028]蘇多羅 (or [lang id =1028]蘇呾羅). A clasp on the seven-piece robe of the [lang id =1028]真宗 Shin sect.
